After years in which breasts have gotten most of the attention on screen, audacious director Gionata Zarantonello has finally brought the penis to the forefront -- and it hangs to the left. The entire film consists of one shot of the main character, Ciccio, between his legs from his knees to his mid-torso, allowing for the frame to center on the real "star" of the film, his ding-a-ling. (The title also refers to a bold choice of editing style -- or lack thereof.) Ciccio is bedridden due to a fractured pelvis and broken shin. His only goal is to get one of his many visitors to have sex with him -- while avoiding the detective investigating his missing girlfriend. Try and fail he does, repeatedly. Eventually Ciccio's forced abstinence comes to an end and we learn what really happened to his missing girlfriend. It would be easy to dismiss UncuT's premise as pure novelty, but Zarantonello's commentary allows for the rarely seen body part to become the most mundane (dare we say flaccid) aspect of the film. The film plays with conventional cinematic formats, utilizing off-screen audio and action to propel the story and character arcs. UncuT may aim to shock at first, but it is a smart comedy layered with social commentary and subversive technique.

There has been a movie with a blue screen, paintings in a museum, a burning log and glowing crystals, but here's one everyone can enjoy! It's a film focused entirely on a man's penis!!!
OK, the camera never leaves the man's penis. Now we've that got the clever trick of Uncut out of the way, does the movie entertain, enlighten or amuse? This writer was engrossed in the dick for a few minutes, but the man attached is such a boor the charm quickly wore off.
Ciccio is bed-ridden. He's had some kind of accident with a woman that caused him to break his pelvis. So what does he do all day? He calls women and tries to get them to come over his home for sex. And he plays with his cock...a lot. He shaves his genital hair, sprays cologne on it, diddles with it constantly, pumps it with a penis enlarger, drips candle wax on it...you name it, he does it to his schlong. He has several visitors, including the police -- and he covers up for them. If the guy were a nice person maybe we could enjoy this film, but he's a sexist, misogynist pig. This writer has seen his share of tallywackers and this one's a lovely, fat uncut hunk of meat. So if you like cock, and just cock, this might be the movie for you. If you want a story, look elsewhere.

Dopo un incidente, Ciccio (Franco Trentalance), è immobilizzato a letto con una lesione al bacino e non può muoversi. La sua ossessione consiste nel trovare una donna con cui avere un rapporto sessuale e così scorre la sua agenda personale. Intanto la sua fidanzata è scomparsa e lo stesso Ciccio è il principale sospettato per la polizia.
Uncut, girato in Alta Definizione, è un unico piano sequenza tra le gambe del protagonista, con il membro di quest'ultimo quasi costantemente in primo piano. Trentalance in pratica recita unicamente con le mani e con la "principale fonte del proprio sostentamento" (è un attore hard). Per il resto si caratterizza per un unico punto di vista e per le voci fuori campo. Il film è stato girato in un unico giorno con quattro giorni di prove, e comunque risulta piuttosto curato dal punto di vista tecnico. Uncut è stato presentato in vari festival tra cui Locarno e Fort Lauderdale negli Stati Uniti dove è stato accolto piuttosto bene. In Italia la distribuzione ha avuto notevoli problemi anche per la natura estrema e sperimentale della pellicola che quindi per ora uscirà in un'unica sala nella sola città di Roma. Naturalmente è difficile pensare che i produttori possano coprire le spese sostenute, pari a duecentomila euro. Una cifra comunque ragguardevole visti i tempi e le modalità della lavorazione.
Naturalmente vedere per 78 minuti un membro virile che viene manipolato e maltrattato nei modi più vari e pittoreschi può essere uno "spettacolo" non sopportabile da tutti gli stomaci. Alcuni passaggi possono inoltre risultare patetici o semplicemente noiosi, ma chi ha pazienza potrà forse trovare qualche spunto originale o divertente. Trentalance ha dichiarato "dopo aver girato oltre trecento film hard, questo è stato il primo film in cui non ho avuto l'ossessione dell'erezione, e questo è stato molto rilassante". In ultima analisi, se proprio ci si vuole sottoporre alla visione di questo film, meglio farlo lontano dai pasti.

Naked Lunch (1991)

After developing an addiction to the substance he uses to kill bugs, an exterminator accidentally murders his wife and becomes involved in a secret government plot being orchestrated by giant bugs in an Islamic port town in Africa.
William Burroughs' 1950s free-form classic, with its nonlinear narration and shocking imagery, had long been thought "unfilmable." Director Cronenberg has done the impossible, for this hallucinatory horror/sci-fi/comedy/drama is a witty, imaginative and quite homoerotically graphic interpretation.
Weller stars as Burroughs' monosyllabic alter ego, Bill Lee, a bug exterminator who, along with his sharp-tongued wife (the amazing Davis), gets hooked on his own bug powder. Lee, swimming in a narcotics-induced paranoia, sees his Remington typewriter come alive in the form of a slimy, bug-shaped creature who informs him that he is really an underground agent on a mission to fight a worldwide "Interzone" conspiracy. This leads him to "travel" to Morocco, where he meets other agents Holm, Sands and, in an additional role, Davis. Julian Sands is the sensually - and dangerously - fey Cloquet, and Scheider makes quite an impression as the maniacal Benway.
Filled with graphic gore, hallucinatory bugs and their pulsing anal regions ("Rub some of that powder on my lips!") and homoerotic scenes of "Mugwamp jism" sucking, this audaciously demanding foray into the psyche of a drug-addicted artist will prove for some to be disgusting and incomprehensible - a response that would have delighted Burroughs.

The Houseboy (2007)

When a pair of lovers whispers that they "want a new toy for Christmas," their third, adorable Ricky goes on a search for love in this moving gem of a film.
With the opening frames of this film by Spencer Lee Schilly (Summer Thunder) you might be lulled into thinking that it's yet another gay romance with pretty boy actors. Rest assured this feeling will pass as The Houseboy is filled with sexy surprises and revelations. In his early twenties, Ricky (Nick May) is the third wheel in a relationship with two hotties in their thirties. While Ricky is supposedly out of hearing range, one lover promises the other "a new toy for Christmas" and then they’re out the door for a Christmas vacation. A very hurt Ricky is left to take care of their apartment and menagerie of pets. With a vengeance, Ricky goes on a search for love using internet hookups and guys he meets on the street. Shockingly, he tells several of his “guests” that he's planning to commit suicide on Christmas. The tricks are mostly taken aback and respond uncomfortably with this stranger who has suddenly become quite intimate. Will his "lovers" come home to a nasty surprise, or will Ricky find the love he so needs over the holidays?
Using his own apartment as a set and with a micro-budget, Spencer Lee Schilly has crafted a small gem with The Houseboy. Newcomer Nick May is extraordinarily human in this challenging role. Disarmingly cute, he brings layers and depth to his character. There's sex galore and some very hot guys appear naked. Always surprising, very real and overflowing with emotion and heart, The Houseboy is a must-see gem.

In My Life (2009)

In My Life is Star Cinema's major drama flick this year and it is the story of a complex friendship of a gay man and the mother of his partner. Vilma Santos plays Shirley Templo (Yes, that's her character's name) and she is an Flipino-American who had spent her life in the Philippines as a librarian. Feeling left out by her estranged family, she decices to move out of her comfort zone and to go to New York City with be with her son Mark (Luis Manzano),who had settled in with a good job and relationship with Noel (John Lloyd Cruz). Noel becomes the "babysitter" of Shirley as she struggles to knows New York and her son whom she has drifted away from.
Like most of her films, Vilma brought the dramatic goods-- from being irritated with the life in New York to a melodramatic mom. John Lloyd and Luis (who is the son of Vilma in real life) do their best to keep up but I feel they didn't show they were comfortable in their roles as gay men in a relationship. The worst offender was Luis Manzano, who showed he has yet to transcend his VJ and hosting into a higher acting stratosphere.
All in all, In My Life has its poignant moments, especially tapping into the loneliness and hardship of a Filipino working abroad. Too bad the glaringly weak performance of Luis Manzano got in the way.

The Groomsmen (2006)

There's a difference between getting older and growing up.

The story follows the misadventures and confusion of a groom (Ed Burns) and his four groomsmen the week before a wedding. Wrestling with issues of fatherhood, honesty and growing up, the five thirty-somethings discover their extended adolescence might be finally coming to a close.

In one week’s time Paulie (Ed Burns) will be married to his beautiful fiancée, Sue (Brittany Murphy). She’s about to have a baby. But with his four groomsmen getting together for one last week of extended adolescence before the big day, it’s Paulie that is going to have to grow up, something that guys find hard to do.

As he bands together with his gang of lifelong pals from the same suburban New York neighborhood – his brother Jimbo (Donal Logue), Cousin Mike (Jay Mohr), Dez (Matthew Lillard) and their gay buddy T.C. (John Leguizamo) – Paulie can’t help but get a nagging feeling that he’s about to lose some vital part of who he is.

He isn’t the only one affected by the impending nuptials. Jimbo (Logue) has his own secret frustrations and resentments, and as his brother prepares to take this giant step in his life, Jimbo can’t help but feel Paulie has somehow achieved everything he hasn’t, and works to make sure Paulie doesn’t make the mistakes he’s made.

Silom Soi 2 is an aptly named gay movie. It centers on Bangkok’s famous gay strip, Silom Soi 2, which is a lane filled with gay bars and restaurants that caters to the gay community in Bangkok. Silom Soi 2 is a heartfelt and realistic take on the gay community in Thailand. Tum, the protagonist, is a young gay man who hangs out at Silom Soi 2 to escape problems at home. He meets friends there and also actively tries to seek out potential lovers. As fate has it, our young Thai boy, Tum meets a handsome hunk, Kaeng, who leaves with him for the night. However, Tum wakes up the next morning to find himself alone in bed. Obsessively drawn to Kaeng, Tum seeks him out, only to find Kaeng has already moved on to his new conquest. Apart from fighting for his one love, Tum also faces the specter of AIDS which leaves him pondering.

This Boy's Life (1993)

In 1957, a son and mother flee the East and an abusive boyfriend to find a new life, and end up in Seattle, where the mother meets a polite garage mechanic. The boy continually gets into trouble by hanging out with the wrong crowd. The mom marries the mechanic, but they soon find out that he's an abusive and unreasoning alcoholic, and they struggle to maintain hope in an impossible situation as the boy grows up with plans to escape the small town by any means possible. Based on the autobiography of writer Tobias Wolff, this intensely moving coming-of-age drama is a courageous tale examining the hopes and desperation of an unsettled youth. In a passionate performance, DiCaprio plays a troubled teen who, with his newly married mother (the first-rate Barkin), moves to a small town in Washington state to live with his new stepfather (De Niro in a volatile performance). 9 Dead Gay Guys (2002) [Requested]

The hysterically offensive story of two not so innocent Irish lads who go to London to hit the big time and instead end up servicing gay men.

Possibly the most offensively funny movie we've ever seen, Nine Dead Gay Guys throws political correctness out the window and delivers some incredibly demented belly laughs. This is a the tale of Kenny (Mulhearn) and Byron (Mackey) - two very cute lads from Ireland who move to London to hit the big time. But what they end up doing is servicing gay men in exchange for cash. Not that these two wholesome boys are gay, but what's a little oral sex between men? Well, maybe they are gay - or at least maybe Kenny is gay, he thinks.

All irrelevant, as the Queen has been murdered and there is cash for the winner of the "Really Hard Red Bull Test" only if they can find "The Bread in the Bed" - all of this is connected to the Chasidic Jew Golders Green (who is very discreet, you must understand). In order for the boys to gain access to the "bread" one must pass the "Red Bull Test" - which is to be at least as hung as two cans of Red Bull stacked on top of each other. Kenny was up to the challenge!

This amazingly original and fast-paced film will offend just about everyone who takes it seriously. There is the "Desperate Dwarf" whose 3 1/2 foot height matches his small penis (he may have a small one, but he's got one hell of an ass); there is the "Iron Lady", the nasty bull dyke proprietress of a gay bar and there is "Dick Cheese Deepak" whose foreskin problem prevents everyone from going down on him. Funny, wacked-out and completely meaninglesss, this film has caused walk-outs at Cannes and controversy wherever it plays - we wouldn't miss it for the world.

Darker Secrets: Sideline Secrets II (2008)

Blackmail, intrigue, murder and of course lots and lots of sex are all on tap in this much anticipated sequel to the top-selling Sideline Secrets. Peter is blatantly lusting after his roommate Todd, but will he be able to beguile and seduce him, or will his devious plans end in disaster?
